Getting close to this finish line.
Still in the motion of building this church. God does tremendous things in those that are willing. Why He has chosen me I will never know, everyday I prove myself invalid. As I struggle with this carnal fleshly body. I often think of how will I respond when I approach HIS presence. I will be embarrassed to seek a place among HIS own. My daily failures consume me on the way to HIS presence. Surely forgivness and mercy abound. My struggle on earth shall never become my practice. Thank you Lord for your finished work on the cross...for saving me. chris m rivera 11-29-2014

Our goal is to give a Hand Up not a Hand Out...to restore a dignity that belongs to everyone.
We need to educate and share the love of the Lord. We must give basic needs and assist where we can.
The Vasquez Family have been an on going project for Calvary and Others. We develop together one relation at a time. pc

One hand washes the other....... The surge in youth activity brought a few new faces to our boxing club.
Out of the streets and into our club, after I do a couple of rounds with these young men in the ring relations are built.
In this new season of boxing only half of the new students are saved, what a honor to serve the Lord.
The guys to the left are part of Calvary Youth Group the other side are new, we want to reach them. pc

Meet Jack the Rapper he came to us through our Youth Pastor, Jack is a Brother in Christ.
Jack and his style does not appeal to everyone but he sure reached the youth for the cause of Christ.
Students of LYBS huddled around Jack and kinda just hung out.
This is a photo update of me, pastor chris, the person behind the camera of Calvary Pena Blanca.
Jack did our Friday Nite Youth Group with a concert some of the grand parents left not their style.

2013 Winter was a challenge for the Rivera Mission...
Photo above is Calvary Pena Blanca and Calvary East doing an outreach to an up and coming special needs mission school in Honduras.
We are active in supporting a wood craft shop in a local village working with children and adults, teaching a trade. (...a hand "up" not a hand "out"...)
Resurrection Sunday this year 2013, brought about 300 souls to church with Tamales and pinata after the teaching. (The finished work of Jesus.)
A final note the chemotherapy for Hep C that my wife Maria was under going, did NOT take! She has been away taking treatments for almost 8 months now. The separation has been a test for us. God's timing and plan served a two fold purpose. Maria was able to stay and bless my bereaved elderly father,- seek out another resource for her Hep C, and minister to our Great Grand Children.
We at Calvary Pena Blanca, Honduras, will continue to move forward in God's grace, not stopping until HE deems it so. We do pass through our "Valley of the Shadows of Death" and our "Mountain Top" experiences. With or with out me...or us, God is already victorious, through the finished work of Christ Jesus. Please keep our needs in prayer.......Pastor chris

Getting back into routine after a sad pause...
It snowed a lot the day after Alice Rivera's death in Albuquerque. (Pastor Chris' mother) Alice had much to do with the reason Pastor Chris has a strong walk with the Lord, and now a church planter in the mission field.

UPDATE JANUARY 2013
Dear Family,
It has been some time since last we updated. We are alive and well currently in the U.S. at mom and dad's home standing vigil as our last days with mom pass very slow. Maria has been a God sent in helping dad through these difficult times. Mom's condition worsens as we all prepare for the Lord to take her home. Our mission in Honduras continues with like minded missionaries and Hondurans. Calvary Pena Blanca continues to grow and with that, come growing pains which helps us plant a stronger foundation. New on the seen is Adam Donato and family as he assists in all areas but mainly working with the youth. His wife Alicia will be helping us build our women's ministry. Maria and I have been experiencing "trials" but God is and has been faithful to see us through them all. The family of Christ has been a tremendous support spiritually and physically. Pastor Chris would like to extend an invitation to individuals, pastors and more over, mission groups. The invitation extends to helping complete (the church) Calvary Pena Blanca, work with children at risk, evangelism and basically work with the wonderful people of Honduras. Our prayer needs: Please pray for the mission home in El Eden, that it would open up so we may provide a resource and income for young men and mission teams that work side by side with us. Please pray for the completion of our children's ministry at Pena Blanca, for a play ground and fence around our property. Pray about TRANSPORTATION NEEDS for our hard working and upcoming church leaders. Pray for the support of our local missionaries of Pena Blanca. We have seen amazing things happen at our mission site and we thank God for the good times and the bad times as they will always go hand in hand. We pray for blessings upon all our readers and contributors to the Rivera Mission. In His name Pastor Chris.

We all gathered by the river for our third church baptism at Calvary Pena Blanca.
Members that I have know for a long time came forward...I had the blessed honor of baptizing.
We remember that water does not save us but Jesus does.
Asst. Pastors Oscar and Adam were helping. The spring waters were wonderful and refreshing.
Walter one of our beloved young adults publicly demonstrated his love and following of the Lord Jesus Christ..............Pastor Chris

Maria's MRI shows that there is no CANCER ! Maria E. Rivera at HIS service
A very special note and prayer for Maria E. Rivera, please. Maria has been diagnosed with Hepatitis "C". If hepatitis "C" is not eradicated it can lead to cancer of the liver. Maria most likely contracted Hepatitis "C" in the mission field. She would not ask for sympathy. But she does ask for prayers during the year long trial of meds-injections and the separation that it will cause from husband (Pastor Chris) and the Honduran children she ministers to with heart and soul. The children miss her dearly and ask for her all the time. Please pray for Maria and Chris as they will go through this year long trial "together". The treatment will be intense. Pastor Chris will stay in Honduras and continue to be used by the Lord at Calvary Pena Blanca. Pray please for strength as unexpected curves occur during this time.

2012 Summer Update Calvary Pena Blanca
Youth Nite has been doing well and growing, food always helps. We have been blessed as we have students from the Baptist Seminary helping to teach.
Our youth are eager to sing praise songs, it is our prayer for Youth Leaders from the States to come.Church is doing well, our prayer is for a bus or a van to bring members to and from our services.
We are proud to have Pastor Martin joining us in additional to outreach ministry. We have been experiencing large numbers of people coming to church as we Link Up with Henry Melgar and Salt and Light ministry. It is the case of" one hand washing the other". Pastor Chris and Assistant Oskar of Calvary Pena Blanca are excited to see what the Lord is going to do, it is amazing what HE has done!
Visiting Pastor Martin and Calvary Pena Blanca's Asst. Oskar, standing in the wings to offer prayer.
Moving to a side note Lake Yojoa Bilingual School is out for the summer and the pressure is off, allowing a few of us a little free time to catch our breath.
For those of you that might want to know, this is what a baby pineapple looks like (growing in Pastor's yard)
Tears and Hugs flowed freely as students said good-by to their teachers that would not be returning to LYBS.
As more local people come to the church they have been meeting needs by volunteering to do finish work in and around the building.
This is a picture of a serving angel, preparing food and snacks for Friday Nite Youth, Calvary Pena Blanca.
This is Henry from Salt and Light Ministry (Missions) a good friend and worship singer for Calvary Pena Blanca.
Today church was full with about 60 children in Nursery and Sunday School.
Pastor Martin was the invited speaker and his son Henry translated, our goal is to always have bilingual services.
Irene Trujillo was one of the beloved teachers at LYBS she will be leaving soon and she will be missed by the staff and students alike, God bless you Ms Trujillo thank you for answering a call to serve unselfishly, the children were blessed by your hard work.
